WHAT SASSI CAN DO FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION
For more than 30 years, the Synthetic Amorphous Silica and Silicate Industry Association (SASSI) has provided a forum to address industry-wide questions arising during production-related activities as well as ecotoxicity, toxicology and regulatory matters concerning the use of Synthetic Amorphous Silica (SAS) and synthetic amorphous silicates. SASSI is a non-profit corporation with 7 members representing many of the major synthetic amorphous silica and silicate producers in the US and Europe.
SASSI’s mission is to increase and disseminate the knowledge of silica and silicates to all stakeholders, including association members, companies that use silica and silicate products in their manufacturing processes, end-use consumers, as well as Non-Governmental Organizations, and governmental and international regulatory bodies.
SASSI’s Main Activities and Partnerships
-
Promotes the safe manufacture and use of SAS and silicates.
-
Sponsors ongoing scientific research on the safety SAS and silicates.
-
Follows other ongoing scientific research on the safety of SAS and silicates.
-
Monitors and responds to relevant global regulatory initiatives related to EHS requirements for manufacturing and use (e.g., food additives; feed additives; pharmaceuticals; food contact applications; cosmetics; paints; coatings; and inks).
-
Monitors substance classifications, descriptions, and standards: e.g., synthetic amorphous vs crystalline silica; “nanomaterial” definitions and classifications; food additive standards.
-
Consults, comments, and cooperates with regional, national, and international agencies and organizations to provide education and input on matters having industry-wide significance.
-
